| Fishing - Fish the lake for bass, blue gill, crappie, and catfish. A Virginia fresh-water license is required for everyone 16 years and older. The Park does not sell fishing licenses. This city park, located in Chesapeake along the Northwest River, has a small man-made pond and canal system running through it. The lake has largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish, bluegill, and white perch. The crappie, white perch, and bluegill are abundant but generally small. This is a good place to take a youngster fishing in the summertime. Fishing with a bobber and small worm, the bluegill will provide plenty of action to keep the young ones interested. The Urban Fishing Program and the stocking of trout has been discontinued. | |||||||||||||
| Hiking - Hiking along the Park's many trails brings nature up close. Venture down "Wood Duck Slough," encounter a deer on the "Deer Island Trail," or stroll along any of the Park's more than seven miles of winding trails. A portion of the Molly Mitchell trail is accessible to the physically disabled. | |||||||||||||
| Picnicking
