Our Tiger Den is always our "new" den for the year with scouts just starting out. They pick their den number and leader(s) in September.

Welcome to our den page, home of the Bear Den. We have 9 Scouts and 2 Adult leaders plus a great bunch of parents that help with each meeting. Our den meets every friday in our own room at 7:30 pm at Messiah United Methodist Church at 411 South Dominion Blvd. On the third friday of the month our den takes part in the Pack Meeting.

To earn the Bear rank a Cub Scout must must complete 12 tasks out of a possible 24 tasks that are offered in the 2003 book.

BEAR RANK/BADGE REQUIREMENTS

BEAR ELECTIVES/ARROW POINTS

If the Cub Scout has not previously earned the Bobcat Rank/Badge, it must be earned first.
Note that these activities are primarily done at home and signed off by the parent after the boy has completed each task. The book is then shown to the Den Leader who records the progress and also signs the boy's book.

        Jan 2006

With only two Den meetings since the last Pack meeting, the Bears were able to learn about marbles, and earned their Marble Belt Loops at the first meeting. If you’ve been wondering why you’ve been finding marbles in the car, stepping on marbles in any given room of the house, or you’ve seen your Bear put down the Nintendo DS for a good old fashioned game of marbles, you now know why!

At our last meeting, the boys made binocular neckerchief slides (this came at a perfect time, since a certain Bear in the Gamboa household can’t seem to keep track of his slides). This fun little project helped keep our energetic Bears quite occupied, while exercising their fine motor control (those “binoculars” are tiny!).

At this point, the boys are looking forward to attending the Admirals hockey game next week. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a good game—and one that teaches our children about Good Sportsmanship!

        Dec 2005

We had four scouts from our Den attend the Arboretum Cleanup. After all that hard work, it certainly was fun to jump in the leaves! One big lesson learned: be careful with the red berries growing there—they REALLY STAIN!

The Bears really enjoyed a visit from a couple of police officers recently. No, they weren’t being arrested! They talked to the boys about stranger awareness, and gave them good advice should they ever be approached by a stranger. The boys knew a lot of the tips they were given, but one important lesson the police officers wanted to teach them was that strangers don’t have to look mean or scary to be dangerous. Don’t be fooled by a pleasant looking person offering gifts! The police officers talked about their jobs, and answered a lot of questions from the scouts. They sure were inquisitive that evening! Before the officers left, they gave each boy a goodie bag filled with all kinds of neat little treats/gadgets.

The Bears really enjoyed helping out and participating in the parade (as the whole Pack did)! They felt proud to be able to give to the Toys for Tots drive. What a way to kick off the Holidays! The Bears would like to wish a…

Merry Christmas filled with Peace, Health, and Happiness to all of the Pack 320 Family!

        Nov 2005
What a fun month the Bears have had! We learned different magic tricks, and even got to take home our very own pack of magic cards. We also learned about folklore, myths, and legends. We have been practicing our square and bowline knots. Congratulations to Jarrell Hill, who earned his Bobcat this month!

        Oct 2005
Congratulations to Kevin, Trent, and Tyler on earning their Bobcat.  All three boys are new this year, and they worked very hard on this requirement.  Welcome back to Zachary, who temporarily left our Den.  He realized that scouting was too fun to miss!  We have worked on our knots and bicycle safety during our Den meetings, and we had a great time at the Family Campout.

        Sept 2005

Welcome back Sam Armistead, Hunter Moore, and Alex Walker! We have already made blue and gold beaded slides for our crisp, new bear neckerchiefs. We are off to a slow start, as we have only had two meetings so far, but we are very excited about the coming months and working on our Bear requirements.
