Local National Guard Called In

CHESAPEAKE, VA (AP) – Cub Scout Pack 320 is
being held hostage tonight at Northwest River Park
located in the southern end of Chesapeake, Virginia.

At this time at least ten families are being held
against their will in the inundated camping area at
the north end of the park. Crazed Pack Leader, Mr.
Robert DiFernando had insisted that a torrential
downpour, heavy flooding and life threatening
thunder and lightening never hurt anyone.

Some hostages were able to escape after being
forced to help prepare what might have been their

last meal. Tears of relief were visible on shocked faces. All were drenched and
muddy, some showed signs of trauma. The parents swore they were tricked into
attending the annual camping event with a promise of activities and fun for their
children. No one realized they would be endangering the lives of their loved ones by
attending.

The National Guard was called in to try to end the situation but there is still no word at
this time on when the horrible incident will culminate. Concerned relatives and friends
of the hostages were being briefed at a nearby fire station in the St. Brides area of
Chesapeake. DNA is being collected in case there are deaths from lightening

Mr. Buford S. Jones of nearby Gallbush Rd. said that Mr. DiFernando, whoever he
might be, was probably just another good man trying to bring truth and enlightenment
to those around him. He felt those who left the campout early where akin to small
kittens and should never had gone there in the first place if they couldn’t handle a little
rain.

Families of the victims insist the man is crazed and should be hauled away for
endangering the lives of those who put their trust in his judgment of weather
conditions. They said he insisted he was once an employee of the National Weather
Service and knew everything there was about the weather.

Relatives of “Bobby” DiFernando insisted the once beloved Pack Leader had been
showing signs of stress lately and would make no further comment.
