| • Attendance | ||||||||||||||
| • Each Cub Scout is expected to attend all meetings and Pack functions. In the event that the Cub Scout misses three unexcused consecutive den meetings, the Den Leader will contact the Cub Scout and his parents to determine whether or not the Cub Scout is still interested in Scouting. The Cub Scout will be placed on an inactive list until re-charter. Absences due to medical reasons, family emergencies, visits, and vacations are excused. | ||||||||||||||
| • All Cub Scouts on the inactive list will be removed from the Pack 320 roster upon re-charter. All boys will be welcomed back to the Pack should they choose to come back into Scouting. | ||||||||||||||
| • Each Den Leader is expected to attend all meetings and Pack functions. In the event that the Den Leader must miss a meeting and/or function, it is their responsibility to notify the Cubmaster and find a suitable registered Adult Leader as a replacement and give them their replacement the meeting agenda and supplies. 48 hour notification of missing a meeting should be given to the Cubmaster whenever possible, emergencies excluded. | ||||||||||||||
| • Personal Conduct – For Cub Scouts, their parents & siblings, & Registered Leaders | ||||||||||||||
| General | ||||||||||||||
| • There will be no foul language or inappropriate attire permitted during any Cub Scout function by either a Cub Scout, leader, parent, or sibling. Please remember, we are here to foster a safe and moral environment for our boys. Continued offenders will be asked to leave. | ||||||||||||||
| • No physical contact between Scouts, with the exception of that required during approved organized Pack games/activities, will be tolerated. “Rough-housing” is strictly forbidden. Fighting will result in immediate removal from all Pack activities until the Cubmaster has determined recall. | ||||||||||||||
| • Any intentional theft, vandalism, property damage, or injury will be handled by the Cubmaster with penalties including and up to dismissal from the Pack. | ||||||||||||||
| Cub Scouts | ||||||||||||||
| • All Cub Scouts are expected to behave in a manner suitable to being a Cub Scout. This means that the boys are expected to show respect to others and to their surroundings. | ||||||||||||||
| • Individual Scouts will not be permitted to bring matches, lighters, or other fire-producing material to any Pack function. They may bring fire producing material to Pack camping functions ONLY if they have been issued a valid “FIRE ‘EM UP” card and a registered Adult leader is supervising. | ||||||||||||||
| • Individual Scouts will not be permitted to bring knives or axes to any Pack function. They may bring knives or axes to Pack camping functions ONLY if they have been issued a valid “WIDDLIN’ CHIT” card and a registered Adult leader is supervising. | ||||||||||||||
| Consequences | ||||||||||||||
| • The 1st offense will be a warning by the Den Leader and the offender will be asked to immediately correct himself | ||||||||||||||
| • The 2nd offense will be a conference with the Den Leader and Cubmaster if necessary. | ||||||||||||||
| • The 3rd offense will be a conference with the parents, Den Leader, and Cubmaster. | ||||||||||||||
| • Any other offenses will be brought to the attention of the Committee who will determine further action after consulting with the Den Leader and Cubmaster. | ||||||||||||||
| Parents | ||||||||||||||
| • Parents are expected to walk their Cub Scout into the building and gain concurrence with the Den Leader to leave their Scout if they are unable to stay for the Den and/or Pack Meetings. | ||||||||||||||
| • Parents are encouraged to stay with their children during the den meetings and be in attendance during a Pack meeting. | ||||||||||||||
| • Parents are responsible for the safe arrival, attendance, conduct, and safe return home of the Cub Scout. | ||||||||||||||
| • If anyone other than the parent is expected to drop off and/or pick up the Cub Scout, that individual must be at least 18 years old and approved by the Cub Scout’s Den Leader. | ||||||||||||||
| • All parents are expected to assist the Pack and/or Den with at least ONE activity during the year. The Committee Chairman and Cubmaster will maintain a list of positions and activities available. | ||||||||||||||
| Siblings | ||||||||||||||
| • Siblings are welcome to be in attendance at all Pack meetings, however parents are responsible for their conduct and their safe transportation to and from the meeting. | ||||||||||||||
| Den Leaders | ||||||||||||||
| • Den Leaders must exemplify scouting ethics and morals at all times while acting as a Scout Leader. Misconduct and/or immoral behavior may result in dismissal from the Pack. | ||||||||||||||
| • Den Leaders are responsible for the conduct of their Dens and their registered Cub Scouts at all Den and Pack functions. | ||||||||||||||
| • Uniforms | ||||||||||||||
| • Parents are expected to purchase the Cub Scout’s uniform and handbook appropriate to their Cub Scout’s rank. The Pack will present the neckerchief and handbook to all registered Cub Scouts graduating to the next rank. | ||||||||||||||
| • Tiger Cubs - each Tiger Cub is expected to wear their uniform at all Den and Pack meetings and any functions designated by the Cubmaster and/or Den Leader. Parents are expected to purchase the Tiger Cub’s uniform, including the orange Tiger Cub hat and shirt. | ||||||||||||||
| • Cub Scout Class A uniforms – each Cub Scout is expected to wear their uniform at all Den and Pack meetings and any functions designated by the Cubmaster and/or Den Leader. Parents are expected to purchase the Cub Scout’s uniform; including the hat, blue Cub Scout shirt, council patch, Pack numbers (320), Den number, neckerchief and slide, and Fleur de Le. Cub Scout pants, shorts, socks, and belt are not required but may be worn. | ||||||||||||||
| • WEBELOS Class A uniforms – each WEBELOS is expected to wear their uniform at all Den and Pack meetings and any functions designated by the Cubmaster and/or Den Leader. Parents are expected to purchase the WEBELOS uniform; including the hat, tan Boy Scout shirt (WEBELOS I may wear their blue Cub Scout shirt), council patch, Pack numbers (320), Den number, neckerchief and slide, and Fleur de Le. Green Boy Scout pants (blue Cub Scout if wearing the Cub Scout shirt), shorts, socks, and belt are not required but may be worn. | ||||||||||||||
| • Registered Leaders – All registered leaders are expected to wear their uniform at all Den and Pack meetings as well as any BSA function. Uniforms should be worn in accordance with BSA guidelines to set the example for our boys. | ||||||||||||||
| • Class B uniforms – The Pack has a Pack t-shirt that will be considered Class B and is NOT required. However, if the Cub Scout’s parents wish to purchase a Pack t-shirt, the boys should wear them at any Pack functions where their Class A uniforms are required. Usually, Class B uniforms are for those functions that could damage the Class A uniforms. To purchase a Pack 320 t-shirt, please see the Cubmaster or any Committee Member | ||||||||||||||
| • Advancement | ||||||||||||||
| • Each Cub Scout is encouraged to work towards achieving his rank. To achieve the next rank in your boy’s scouting career, he should be encouraged to work towards his rank at home as well as with his Den. Parents may sign off on any requirements that the boy has met outside of Den functions. Den Leaders will check their books and knowledge level before signing their books. | ||||||||||||||
| • At least one week prior to a Pack meeting, Den Leaders are required to send their advancement reports to the Awards Chairman. Any advancement turned in after the one-week cutoff will be awarded at the next pack meeting. | ||||||||||||||
| • All awards and belt loops must be earned in accordance with the requirements listed in the handbook. Only one specific program belt loop, academic and sports letter will be given no matter how many times the Scout has earned them. To obtain specifics on how the boys can earn their belt loops, please see any adult leader. | ||||||||||||||
| • Youth Protection | ||||||||||||||
| • All registered leaders must be trained in Youth Protection. The Boy Scouts of America places the highest priority on protecting the youth that participate in Scouting. | ||||||||||||||
| • Effective July 1, 1993, the 1993 Virginia General Assembly mandated that reporters are required to report their suspicions of child abuse or neglect within 72 hours of becoming suspicious. Failure to report is a misdemeanor and if found guilty, the fine can be up to $500 for the first incident. Mandated reporters include volunteers and professionals associated with Scouting. | ||||||||||||||
| • All volunteers must keep their knowledge of specific reports confidential. | ||||||||||||||
| • Youth Protection Training is required of all registered leaders who must have refresher training at least every two years. Interested parents may also take this course. | ||||||||||||||
| • Suspicions of child abuse and/or neglect will be reported to the appropriate authorities. | ||||||||||||||
| • Re-Charter | ||||||||||||||
| • Pack 320 is required to re-charter each December. | ||||||||||||||
| • Four months prior to the charter expiration date, an individual in the Pack will be identified as the person responsible for the re-chartering by the District Executive and the head of the Chartered Organization. | ||||||||||||||
| • Three months prior to the charter expiration date, the District Executive and head of the Chartered Organization will provide the Pack with a renewal kit. | ||||||||||||||
| • Two months prior to the charter expiration date, a uniform inspection of the Pack and membership inventory will take place. | ||||||||||||||
| • One month prior to the charter expiration date, a charter renewal meeting will be held. | ||||||||||||||
| • The Charter Presentation Ceremony will take place once the renewal process is complete and satisfactory. | ||||||||||||||
