Pack 320 By-Laws: Part 3

        • Safe Scouting
Trips – All Den & Pack trips and WEBELOS camp outs must be brought to the attention of the Committee Chairman and Cubmaster at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
  • Tour permits and parental permission slips must be completed and turned in prior to any trip. Tour permits must be filed with the Tidewater Council at least one week prior to any trip.
  • Permission slips must be signed and turned in to the Den Leader no later than the meeting prior to the trip.
  • If a medical form is required, it is to be turned in as well. The Committee and/or Cubmaster will notify you if medical forms are required. All permission slips and medical forms will be kept on file with the Cubmaster until the trip is completed and the boys are returned safely home
The Two Deep rule is required for ALL trips. Two registered adult leaders, or one registered adult leader and a parent of a participating Scout, 21 years or older, are required for EVERY Pack trip or outing.
Swimming – At least one registered adult leader must complete the Safe Swim Defense training and carry their “commitment card” with them for any Scout swimming activities.
Camping – At least one registered adult leader must be trained in BALOO training in order for any camping trips to occur.
Injuries – All injuries occurred during a Pack function must be brought to the attention of the Cubmaster or Assistant Cubmaster after the injured person has been stabilized. Depending upon the seriousness of the injury and in the judgment of the Cubmaster or Assistant Cubmaster, a “Report of Injury” will be completed and forwarded to the District.
• Miscellaneous
WEBELOS Arrow of Light – This is the highest award a WEBELOS can earn. WEBELOS who earn this award should be very proud of themselves – we are! Each candidate for the Arrow of Light will go before a Board of Review appointed by the Committee Chairman. The parents of the boy may NOT be on their son’s Board of Review. Once the boy earns his Arrow of Light, the advancement card that goes with it should be saved by the WEBELOS – he will need that card for when he transitions to the Boy Scouts. The Arrow of Light award can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform when the boy moves into the Troop.
Recruiter Badge – This award can be earned by any Cub Scout or WEBELOS scout and can also be worn on the Boy Scout uniform when the boy moves into the Troop.
Den Assignments – The Cubmaster and the Den Leader Coach will assign each boy to their initial Den. Boys will not be allowed to move to another den unless approval is given by the Cubmaster.
  • Planning – The Committee will meet in May, June, or July of each year to plan the upcoming year’s scouting activities. All registered leaders are invited to attend and assist with the planning. Once the Committee has completed their recommendations, the Cubmaster and Den Leaders will be afforded the opportunity to review and provide feedback. If any changes are made to the plans, they will be made by the Committee and the plans will be given to the Chartered Organization Representative for final approval no later than July 31st.
Den Chiefs – The Pack Den Leaders will be responsible for informing the Committee that they wish to participate in the Den Leader Program. This program allows the Boy Scout Troop 320 to participate in the Pack on a leadership level. The Troop will provide a suitable Boy Scout to assist the Den and participate in Den activities. The Cubmaster or Committee Chairman will approach the Scoutmaster and request for Den Chief participants. Every Den Chief for Pack 320 is required to take the Den Chief Training Course provided by the Council.
Fundraising – Every Cub Scout is encouraged to participate in Pack or Boy Scouts of America fundraising activities. A yearly fundraising activity is the Annual Popcorn Sell. This fundraising helps the Council and the Pack by earning additional money to continue the many activities that our boys enjoy. Any non-Council sponsored fundraising must be approved by the Council and a Money Earning Form must be turned in by either the Cubmaster or Committee Chairman at least 3 weeks prior to the event. All non-Council fundraisers must meet the guidelines established by the Boy Scouts of America policy.
Friends of Scouting – Every year the Pack will host a Friend of Scouting Campaign. Friends of Scouting provide opportunities for parents, Scouters, and friends of scouting to financially support the growth of the Scouting program.
Questions or changes to the Pack By-laws and questions about the Boy Scouts of America’s policies or regulations must be presented to the Committee for review. Two weeks notice is required to prepare an answer. Notice should be in writing and give either to the Cubmaster or Committee Chairman.
Revisions to the By-laws will be announced at a Pack meeting with the new and/or revised section available to each parent. Please remember that by signing the By-laws Acknowledgement Form, Scouts and their parents have agreed to abide by any revisions of the By-laws.
Monthly Pack activities will be placed on a Pack calendar, which will be given to each Cub Scout and his family. Please keep this calendar handy to stay involved with the Pack. Additional copies may be received by asking either the Cubmaster or Committee Chairman.
Monthly Committee meetings will be announced on the Pack calendar. All parents interested in attending are welcome to join.
District Roundtable – These are monthly meetings held for registered leaders. Parents are welcome to attend. Meeting dates and locations are listed on the Pack calendar.
