In order to conserve resources and money the Pack has implemented the following policy :

Instead of using paper plates & cups and plastic utensils every family needs to bring mess kits or eating utensils for each person attending the campout.

This includes:
1. non-disposable tableware (folks/knifes/spoons)
2. hot/cold beverage cup
3. plates &/or bowls
4. a mesh bag for drying

If you do not have these items they can be purchased individually at any dollar store or as a mess kit at any department store.

Everyone is to wash their own dishes in the common wash tub area which will be setup at the site.

Let your sons know what a really great event they are participating in!!!!

The Tidewater Council, for the next three years, has agreed to help collect food for the Foodbank of Southeastern Hampton Roads and for the local foodbanks of North Carolina. Despite increased food collection in 2004, the Southeastern Foodbank of Southeastern Hampton Roads, still needed to collect another 9 million pounds of food to meet the need.

Our efforts last fall, our best ever in history, equaled 100,000 pounds of food and when laid end to end, would equate to 14 miles of dinner plates side by side.

IMPORTANT INFO

Tidewater Council will be assigning our Pack an area to cover (they will give us specific neighborhoods to drop off and pick-up bags). Once we know our neighborhoods and the number of scouts participating we will break-up our scouts into groups to permit wide-spread and safe coverage of each neighborhood. Please verify which group/neighborhood you are in by the April 8th den meeting.

(Please note the council determines which neighborhoods we can cover, we do not have a choice of neighborhoods our Pack is assigned to.)

PLEASE signup for this event at the Den Meetings so we have an early count of scouts. Please don't signup unless you can participate. This event will earn a 2006 rocker for your scout's Good Turn for America patch. These hours of volunteer work will be tracked on the nationwide website for the Good Turn for America website! Make our Pack proud by participating (both scout and adult volunteer work is tracked).

Bags will be handed out to the scout groups
at den meetings and campout.
Your den will determine what day you want to distribute the bags. Council wants all bags distributed between
3 to 7 days before the pickup date
